The Mari Lwyd is a wassailing folk custom from South Wales, where a hobby horse is made from a horse’s skull and adorned in ribbons and bells. If you come across the Mari Lwyd, you have to beat it in a battle of rhymes and if you win you celebrate with food and drink.
